Dr. Chen
Good afternoon, Mrs. Wong. I'm Dr. Chen. I'd like to talk to you about how you're feeling today.
Mrs. Wong
Good afternoon, Doctor. I'm not feeling too well today, to be honest.
Dr. Chen
I'm sorry to hear that. Can you tell me where exactly you're experiencing pain?
Mrs. Wong
It's mainly in my abdomen, on the right side. Sometimes it spreads to my back as well.
Dr. Chen
On a scale of zero to ten, where zero is no pain and ten is the worst pain imaginable, how would you rate your pain right now?
Mrs. Wong
Right now, I'd say it's about a 6. But earlier this morning, it was closer to an 8.
Dr. Chen
I see. Can you describe what the pain feels like? Is it sharp, dull, burning, or aching?
Mrs. Wong
It's a constant dull ache most of the time, but it becomes sharp when I try to move or change position.
Dr. Chen
Thank you for describing that so clearly. Is there anything that makes the pain better or worse? For example, does resting help, or does eating affect it?
Mrs. Wong
Lying still helps a little. But eating makes it worse, especially after meals. The pain medication they gave me last night helped for a few hours, but it came back around 4 a.m.
